The Technical pillar evaluates football-specific execution, awareness, decision-making and control. Every domain is scored against a rubric and every score carries recorded evidence.
The domains, and the evidence recorded
- First touch
- Right-foot and left-foot control, receiving under pressure, directional first touch.Video, structured drill score, assessor notes.
- Ball manipulation
- Close control, turns, changes of direction, manipulation speed.Video and timed drill results.
- Speed with ball
- Straight-line and directional dribbling.Timed course, video analysis.
- Small-space control
- Control in confined areas, quick feet, composure.Small-sided task, coach grading.
- Intelligence
- Scanning, awareness, pattern recognition, anticipation.Video observation and a decision task.
- Game understanding

- Decision-making

Band descriptors
- Blue
- Performs consistently at a high level under pressure; demonstrates speed, control, awareness and adaptability.
- Green
- Performs well, with only minor inconsistencies or development gaps.
- Amber
- Demonstrates basic competence but requires significant technical refinement or faster decision-making.
- Red
- Demonstrates major limitations in control, execution, awareness or application.
